Clinique - skin supplies for men

Guide to Looking Good

1. Choose the right weapons.
Using the wrong products for your skin type is a bit like filling your tank with diesel when your car runs on petrol - a costly mistake in more ways than one. Your skin is a unique to you so don’t waste time (and money) on products that claim to suit ‘all skin types’ - opt instead for a bespoke grooming routine tailored to your skin’s precise needs. The Clinique range, for example, offers three core moisturisers - a Maximum Hydrator for dry skins, an M Gel Lotion for skins prone to greasiness and M Lotion for normal to dry skins, making it much easier to invest in the right product for the job. If you’re not sure which product are right for you then the Skin Solutions section can help you find out.

2. Master your technique.
We’re all aware of how much food we waste in Britain every year (over £3 billion worth each year as it happens) but it’s easy to waste skin and haircare products too. Most of us tend to use too much of a product, in the mistaken belief that the more we use the better the result. In reality, though, less if often more when it comes to good grooming. A blob of shampoo the size of a 50p piece is plenty if you have medium to long hair, a dollop of Cream Shave the size of a £2 coin should lather up enough to cover the average beard and a 1p sized blob of Face Scrub is all you need to proper exfoliation. And you need even less when it comes to eye creams where a blob the size of a grain of rice under each eye is more than enough. Remember, too, that you can get better results from face washes, scrubs, shaving creams and shampoos by lathering them up between your palms before applying.

3. Think ‘multi-function’
We all love a two-for-one. So think about stocking up on money-saving essentials like Clinique’s Exfoliating Body Wash (which will save you buying separate shower gels and body scrubs) or stay squeaky clean with the Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Bar for Face and Body which can be used all-over and helps keep you spot free from top-to-toe. Or how about the ultimate multi-function product, Age Defence Hydrator SPF15? As well as being an excellent daily moisturiser and post-shave balm it acts as an anti-aging cream and guards against sun damage. Think of it as the ultimate all-round face protector!

Did you know...
According to research conducted by the University of California in Los Angeles, 55% of a person’s first impression of us is based on appearance alone, which is why good grooming is so important, especially in today’s increasingly competitive the job market.

Q. Can I save money by using my face moisturiser as an eye cream, too?

A. In a word, no! The skin around the eye is some of the thinnest (and most delicate) on the body and ordinary facial moisturisers can overload it, causing sensitivity and irritation. Instead, invest in a product like Daily Eye Hydrator which is especially formulated for the eye area. It might seem like an extravagance but a little goes a long way and with skin around the eyes often the first to show signs of ageing, it’s a sound investment for the future!
